Xolo Play Tegra Note tablet listed online

 

The Xolo Play Tegra Note, Xolo's 7-inch Nvidia Tegra 4-powered tablet, is now listed on e-commerce website Flipkart at a price of Rs. 18,990.
The tablet is not available for purchase at the time of writing this post, and is listed as 'Coming soon.' There is no information about the availability of the Xolo Play Tegra Note tablet, yet. The listing was spotted by Fonearena.
The tablet, based on Nvidia's Tegra Note reference design, was to be reportedly launched in October, after Nvidia announced it in September and mentioned that it would be released in India via Xolo. The report had cited a company official and stated that the Xolo Play Tegra Note tablet will be launched in India in October, with the price expected to be between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 20,000. It had estimated that the Xolo Play Tegra Note tablet would be priced at Rs. 16,999.
Assuming the currently listed price tag turns out to be the final one, the Xolo Play Tegra Note would fall in the same segment as the Nexus 7 (2013) tablet, though the latter doesn't come with expandable storage.
The Xolo Play Tegra Note tablet comes with a 7-inch HD IPS LCD (1280x800) display and is powered by a 1.8GHz Tegra 4 processor with a 72-core GeForce GPU and quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU. The Tegra Note runs Android and will most likely receive over-the-air software updates directly from Nvidia. It features a 5-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. The tablet includes 16GB of inbuilt storage with microSD support and is expandable up to an additional 32GB. It sports front-facing HD audio stereo speakers with bass-reflex port. The reference Tegra Note tablet can deliver up to 10 hours of HD video playback, as per Nvidia.
Some of the headline features of the Xolo Play Tegra Note tablet are the DirectStylus technology for the bundled stylus, Nvidia PureAudio technology, SmugMug Camera app (one of the camera apps on iOS comes to Android), and Nvidia TegraZone that provides access to Tegra-optimized games.

Google Unveils Project Tango Tablet Developer Kit With Tegra K1 at $1,024

Google on Thursday revealed that is working on a tablet computer with 3D and motion-sensing capabilities in an effort dubbed Project Tango.
"The goal of Project Tango is to give mobile devices a human-scale understanding of space and motion," team member Johnny Lee said at a website devoted to the endeavour.
"Our team has been working with universities, research labs, and industrial partners spanning nine countries around the world to build on the last decade of research in robotics and computer vision, concentrating that technology into a unique mobile device."
The curtain on the project was pulled back as Google put out word it will soon put prototypes powered by Nvidia chips in the hands of developers interested in creating applications that take advantage of innovations built into devices.

The development kits can be used to make "apps" that track full 3D motion and recognize surfaces of things nearby, according to Google.

The company also detailed specifications and pricing of the prototype tablets for developers. Set to be released late next month, the Tango development kit will cost $1,024.

Featuring a 7-inch screen with a 1080x1920 pixel resolution, the Google Tango prototype runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, and is powered by an Nvidia Tegra K1 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM on board. Other specifications include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and 128GB of built-in storage. For Project Tango's 3D computer vision tech, the tablet features two cameras along with a depth sensor.

The California-based technology titan pulled back the curtain on Project Tango a day after online commerce colossus Amazon put out word of a June 18 mystery event at which founder Jeff Bezos will launch something new.

Online speculation immediately centered on the potential for the Seattle-based firm to unveil a Kindle smartphone, perhaps with 3D graphics and motion-sensing capabilities.

We have talked about Google's Project Tango in the past. It works with specialized devices running Android to track 3D objects and spaces in real-time and generates a vital map of it, which can be used for various purposes.

Back when it was announced, there was just one device that Google used internally for testing. But now, the company has released a new tablet for developers to buy and work on the project.

Called the Project Tango Tablet Development Kit, this is the second device since the Xiaomi MiPad to run on NVIDIA's powerful new Tegra K1 SoC. It also has a 7-inch display (no word on resolution), 4GB of RAM, 128GB storage space, motion tracking camera, integrated depth sensor and 4G LTE connectivity.

Considering the hardware, it's not surprising that the tablet is priced at $1024 and you'll have to sign up from Google's website to be able to get your hands on one.
